At RootstockCollective, our team is what drives the mission forward. In this edition of Team Spotlight, we sat down with Georgia, our Community Manager, to talk about staying connected with our community, her journey into web3, and why she believes real people are building real things.
What does a typical day look like for you at RootstockCollective?
Ask me what a typical day looks like as a Community Manager, and I honestly couldn’t tell you – it changes from community building to growth to social media and even video editing, depending on the day. Social media is a constant, every single day. But no matter what the day looks like, the most important part is staying connected – with our community and with our ambassadors. Keeping that connection alive is everything.
What do you appreciate most about RootstockCollective’s culture?
The trust between team members. I feel trusted by my team, and I trust them just as much – we deliver on what we promise to each other. What I value most, personally, is the freedom to be creative: I can have an idea, own it, and actually execute it.
How did your journey in web3 begin?
My journey officially began in 2022 at Devconnect Bogotá. At the time I knew almost nothing about web3 – I went because a friend of mine, who was already working in crypto, invited me along, and I didn’t even have a ticket. A friend who was volunteering at the event gave me a bracelet so I could get into the main conference, since I couldn’t afford the $600 ticket. From that first event, I fell in love – with the culture, the creativity, the technology, and the philosophy behind it all. I kept attending events, reading, and building connections. I was already working as a Community Manager at a web2 startup, so the move into web3 came naturally.
What aspect of web3 do you think is most underrated or misunderstood?
That the whole space is a scam. Yes, there are bad actors out there, but at its core this is a revolutionizing space trying to push toward real normalization and adoption. There are real people building real things, and I’d say RootstockCollective is one of the projects truly trying to make an impact on the ecosystem.
What resources or habits keep you sharp and inspired in your role?
Research shows that movement and changing environments fuel creativity, and that’s exactly how I work best – I love being in nature, and even a change of scenery helps me stay sharp and inspired. Beyond that, staying current is a big part of it: I follow a mix of newsletters, and keep a close eye on X and LinkedIn to stay on top of what’s happening in the space day to day.
What do you see as the biggest opportunity ahead for RootstockCollective or the web3 ecosystem?
Web3 is leaning heavily into it, and I think we’ll be talking about AI for at least the next decade. But the more things get automated, the more we’ll need a human approach. I’d also say UX/UI will matter more than ever. Having a real person to talk to helps build trust and makes it easier to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s a scam. That’s why RootstockCollective is putting so much focus on UX/UI, on the mobile experience, and on really listening to community feedback – to make everything more accessible, easier, and smoother.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I travel constantly – for work and for pleasure, it’s been a huge part of my life for the last four years. I’ve been to 30 countries and territories so far, and my goal is to hit 40 before I turn 30. I’m also a pretty creative person outside of work: I write, I draw, I’ve gotten into pottery, and I’ve recently started experimenting with film photography (nothing too serious, just for fun). And of course, my biggest love: gardening – I love it, even though all my traveling means my plants don’t always survive! I really love giving life to things.
